About
Wild & Wondrous Flowers was first established in 2012 trading from a small shop in Blackrod Bolton. It was set up by the founder Nicola Hanney, a florist for many years, so it would work around family and her son. In 2025, Nicola decided to close the shop and the website was taken over by Yvonne Hart, who had previously worked and trained at Wild & Wondrous Flowers. The business is now run by Yvonne, from a home studio in Haigh, Wigan, not far from the original shop.

36 years floristry experience

BSc Hons Environmental Science
MSc Contaminated Land & Remediation
I became a florist at the age of 16. To be honest I didn't even know what a florist was! I loved it, creating beautiful things all day that made people smile, I was hooked. Floristry opened my eyes to nature and the environment. I was lucky to be able to return to education in my thirties, when I had my son. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and it opened my eyes to the problems connected with consumer consumption. When I opened my shop back in 2012 I knew the best way to limit waste and environmental impact was simply not to offer that product, The bouquet that is wrapped in metres of plastic wrap with a plastic bow. Using endless amounts of toxic materials like spray paint, floral foam and glitter!!!! I run my business as ethically as I can whilst still being commercially viable. At least I can sleep at night xxxxx
